At the beginning of 2012, Shanghai Starriver Overseas Chinese School started to enroll first grade students for the upcoming September semester. Shanghai Starriver Overseas Chinese School, as the first international school targeted at overseas Chinese in Shanghai, was established in response to the globalized educational development of Shanghai, and its curriculum is based upon the international curriculum of Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID). Located at the intersection of Jindu Road and Duhui Road in Minhang District, near well populated communities like the Starriver Real Estate, the school is fully equipped with facilities meeting international standards. The first overseas Chinese school is now in Minhang.

Minhang District was chosen as the location of the School to demonstrate the administrators’ international perspective and desire to develop Minhang into a first-rate district. The international education the School provides also meets the actual demand of overseas Chinese in Shanghai. The establishment of the School was supported by the District Committee and District Government of Minghang, Shanghai Education Committee, Minghang Education Bureau, Zhuanqiao Local Government and Starriver Real Estate. The opening of the School will improve the investment and education environment of Minhang, as well as Shanghai, attract more overseas Chinese to return and make contributions to their motherland, and have a profound impact on the development of international education in Minhang and Shanghai.

With a management team headed by one of the chief administrators of SHSID, and a faculty led by a senior English teacher of Shanghai High School, Shanghai Starriver Overseas Chinese School promotes high standards, high quality and high class of education. It employs teachers with teaching or training experience at SHSID, and is getting curricular support from various subject departments of SHSID.
