A Lecture on How to Prepare for the College Application for the 11th Graders

Dr. Douglas G. Rogers, former administrator at Philips Exeter Academy, visited SHSID on April 24thand gave a lecture to Grade 11 students on how to prepare for the college application in the coming future. Dr. Rogers is a recipient of the Brown Award for Teaching and the Rupert Radford ’56 Faculty Fellowship.

During his lecture, he made a speech on how to make a proper college list, how to prepare for the standardized tests, how to tell the personal story in the form of personal statement, and what was the situation like behind the door of college admission offices. Dr. Rogers’ humorous way and informative message aroused students’ great interest. After the lecture, a Q&A session lasted for 30 minutes. Students all felt the lecture very helpful. Hence, a lot of students came around Dr. Rogers to raise further questions and got satisfied answers.
