On September 8th, 2015, the students of Shanghai High School International Division were thrilled and amazed when NBA star Alonzo Mourning walked onto the basketball court. Alonzo Mourning is a retired American professional basketball player who played center and spent most of his 15-year career for the Miami Heat.
This brilliant basketball star first gave a motivating speech to all of the students. He talked about how he spent hours alone in the gymnasium practicing and practicing. A few enthusiastic students even stood up to ask him questions. After that, it was time for the exciting action to begin! Teams of well-trained, hardworking students did dribbling, shooting, and all sorts of challenging drills while this NBA giant walked from group to group, encouraging them while giving supportive advice. Sometimes he would go up to one or two of the students and give them specific guidance. The tall basketball veteran inspired all of the students and teachers. A few students were even lucky enough to get his autograph as a souvenir of this amazing event.
