On the afternoon of February 25, UK Minister for Education and Childcare Elizabeth Truss visited SHS at the head of the UK Educational Delegation. The Educational Delegation, accompanied by Principal Feng Zhigang, Party Secretary Wang Hui, and other leaders, toured the campus, and afterwards Deputy Minister Elizabeth Truss conducted student interviews in the media center. During the interview, Mrs. Truss expressed her positive impression of Shanghai and SHS, and looked ahead to a future of positive dialogue between Chinese and British students.

The UK Educational Delegation’s primary motivation for visiting Shanghai was to understand Shanghai’s success in math education. With this in mind, SHS specially arranged for the head of the Shanghai Institute for International Curriculum Research, former SHS Principal Tang Shengchang to conduct a discussion with the UK Educational Delegation entitled “Shanghai's Leading Results in PISA 2012 and SHS' training of students with math potential”.
