Blooming Seasons:SHSID 2017 IB/AP Exam Results

2018-11-26

Results of the IB/AP examinations held in May 2017 have been released by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and the College Board. According to the preliminary statistics, students from Shanghai High School International Division (SHSID) once again did a great job. Congratulations!

In the IB exams this year, our passing rate of IBDP is 100%, and among our IB students, nearly half of them obtained the IB Bilingual Diploma. In addition, more than 95% of our students scored 40 and above (out of 45). The Class of 2017 IB students continued to achieve excellent results in the IB core course Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and about 90% of our students scored A/B. Regarding the AP exams this year, more than three hundred students from Grade 10-12 attended over eight hundred exams, setting a new record for the number of AP test takers at SHSID. More than 75% of the 11th graders took the AP exams, and over 70% of the test results showed the full mark 5 points.

It is noteworthy that our students continue to demonstrate outstanding performances in the areas of math and science, language and literature, and social sciences. This reflects our students’ solid academic foundations and high potential.

Our school’s educational philosophy of “keeping pace with the times” and its commitment to “continuous improvement” have contributed significantly to the remarkable exam results. SHSID strives to “promote the personal and life-long development of every student,” which is supported by a multi-module and multi-level core curriculum. Pedagogies such as the round-table classroom and inquiry-based learning have stimulated students’ initiatives and academic interests. Courses such as the Academy and club activities have expanded students’ academic and holistic visions. SHSID is fully concerned with the cultivation of students’ metacognitive abilities, focusing on providing solid foundations for their future studies in the university and beyond.

What has also contributed much to such great results is our students’ efforts in “taking the initiative to improve themselves.” We are proud that our students have been continuously developing and surpassing themselves in their own ways and in various dimensions: virtues and values, knowledge and skills, practice and innovation, arts and health, and so on.

Once again, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the SHSID students who have achieved great success in the IB/AP exams, as well as to all the SHSID teachers devoted to teaching and education!
