The newly constructed Hsi Building at Shanghai High School, located on the west side of campus, officially opened in August 2024.
With a total construction area of 89,484.9 square meters, the building features two underground levels and six above-ground floors. It houses standard classrooms, specialized classrooms for music, physical education, art, and science, as well as teacher offices, conference rooms, teaching support rooms, and public activity spaces, including a Badminton Center, Gymnasium, sports activity rooms, Lecture Hall, and Library.
Designed as a comprehensive, multi-functional facility, the Hsi Building aligns with Shanghai High School’s philosophy of small-class teaching, emphasizing principles of sharing, openness, creativity, and flexibility. The building embodies the core concepts of a “Pre-existing Campus”, “Vertical Campus”, “Dynamic Campus”, and “Integrated Campus”, resulting in a high-density, multi-functional “campus complex”.
The Hsi Building also integrates both Eastern and Western cultures, providing a space that welcomes all students and faculty of Shanghai High School to explore and engage.
